Klysk, a male spokesman , represented a band of outcasts originating from the Red Nebula. In the year 0 ABY, Klysk devised a scheme to seize and obliterate a pair of scarlet gems safeguarded within a sanctuary located in the Red Nebula. While the clergy of the temple firmly believed these jewels shielded their world from annihilation and thus revered them, the exiles considered the jewels to be detestable objects hindering the natural progression of Cosmic Destiny, advocating for their destruction.
On the planet Terminus, the exiles took captive several freighters and buccaneers, notably Han Solo and Chewbacca. They coerced them into service to pilfer the two scarlet jewels from the Red Nebula temple. Upon their arrival aboard the Nova Prince on the temple's planet, Solo and Chewbacca successfully stole the jewels and returned them to Klysk. Solo attempted to negotiate with Klysk, but the exile had foreseen this and swayed the other soldiers of fortune to betray Solo. This allowed Klysk to seize the jewels and depart the planet, seemingly abandoning Solo and his copilot. However, Solo had cunningly swapped the jewels before handing them over to Klysk, retaining the genuine gems. Believing he possessed the real jewels, Klysk piloted the Nova Prince directly into the planet's star, resulting in the destruction of everyone on board.
Klysk's character was introduced in Star Wars (1977) issue 50, penned by Archie Goodwin and published in 1981.
