Gauntlet vibroblade
The blade when deployed.
The retractable weapon termed the gauntlet vibroblade, also known as a vibroknuckler, or knuckle plate vibroblade, was integrated within the glove of a clone commando's Katarn-class commando armor. It could be launched from the gauntlet for use in hand-to-hand combat. Its effectiveness was maximized at short distances. Mercenaries and smugglers also utilized them as a modest form of defense against law enforcement or adversaries. For instance, Jabba the Hutt's security personnel and skiff operators employed them, often due to financial constraints preventing the acquisition of more substantial weaponry. Common targets included B1-series battle droids, Geonosians, and Trandoshan slavers. A Geonosian could be swiftly defeated with only one or two strikes at close quarters. This weapon served as the exclusive melee defense option for clone commandos, yet it lacked the size necessary to effectively counter a lightsaber or a standard vibrosword. Like other vibro-weapons, this blade incorporated an internal sonic generator that induced vibrations upon its deployment. This vibration enabled the blade to pierce through light and medium armor, as well as the chassis of B1 battle droids, and to a limited degree, the armor of B2 super battle droids. Furthermore, the vibrations produced a minor sonic assault on targets, potentially causing significant internal harm to living beings with a single cut, leading to the rupture of arteries and organs without direct contact from the blade.
Behind the scenes
Within the game, the Trandoshan Mercenary also employs this knife, though its design features black metal and resembles a scorpion's stinger. This specific design is exclusive to the multiplayer mode.
