9T9-B Wasp

The 9T9-B Wasp, alternatively known as the Voltec KT9 Wasp or the KV9T9-B, represented a Podracer crafted by Keizar-Volvec in the time leading up to the Invasion of Naboo.

Characteristics

The 9T9-B, brought to life by the predictably uninspired engineers at Keizar-Volvec, lived up to expectations by being remarkably unremarkable. As the inaugural Podracer from this manufacturer, the Wasp demonstrated competence and sound engineering, though it lacked any striking features. Powered by a duo of KVT-Series 400 fanjets, the control mechanisms of the pod exhibited both sophistication and resilience. While it excelled in gaining traction and accelerating quickly, its deceleration capabilities were lacking, and its turning radius and maximum velocity were, at best, average. In spite of its lack of flair, the 9T9-B distinguished itself with exceptional dependability, a rare trait among Podracers. Due to its ease of upkeep and modification, as well as its modular hull design, it became a favored choice for racers who enjoyed customizing their vehicles.

History

Clegg Holdfast piloted a 9T9-B during the Boonta Eve Classic held in 32 BBY. This particular Wasp demonstrated impressive acceleration and considerable speed. Holdfast began the Boonta Eve Classic from the second starting position. He initially lost ground, but during the second circuit, he staged a surprising recovery and advanced to the second position. In a bold maneuver to seize the lead, he attempted to overtake Sebulba, however, the Dug used a concealed and strictly prohibited flamethrower to damage Holdfast's engines. Holdfast's aflame racer collided with a stone barrier, although he survived the crash. Later, scavenger droids recovered the remaining pieces of Clegg's racer.
