The Varykino villa scenes were shot at Lake Como.
Lake Como (known as Lago di Como in Italian) is situated in Lombardy, Italy, and it is a lake that was formed by glacial activity. With a surface area of 146 square kilometers, it ranks as Italy's third largest lake. Reaching a depth of 410 meters, it is among the deepest lakes found in Europe, with its bottom extending over 200 meters below the level of the sea.
For Attack of the Clones, filming took place at three locations on Lake Como: Villa del Balbianello, the Tremezzo public garden, and Picnic meadow. However, the Tremezzo public garden scene was ultimately removed from the final version of the film. All three of these scenes depict Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala at Varykino which is on Naboo. The filming was conducted during the initial week of September in 2000, spanning a total of four days.
