A laser rifle
The laser rifle served as the standard weapon for the Corellian military. Only the most skilled snipers from Corellia were permitted to wield it. The snipers who utilized this rifle became renowned, owing to its distinctive precision. This rifle, coupled with its immense power and the capacity to attach scopes of varying sizes based on the user's specific needs, was unequivocally one of the most lethal armaments present in the galaxy.
During the time of the Galactic Civil War, laser rifles also saw action in the hands of various commando units of the elite variety.
On Lamaredd, the purpose of laser rifles was for mining operations. The Menahuun, a species considered primitive, seized control of the local mining facilities, and subsequently adopted laser rifles for their own arsenal.
The original screenplay for the original film refers to the rifles carried by both Luke Skywalker and the Tusken Raiders as "laser rifles." This terminology was then carried over into the comic adaptation titled Star Wars (1977) 1, which was directly based on the screenplay and was published prior to the movie's release. On the other hand, the Star Wars Customizable Card Game, which came later, categorized both of these rifles as slugthrowers: specifically, the 6-2Aug2 hunting rifle and the Tusken Cycler.
Kenner manufactured a toy marketed as a "3 position laser rifle" as a component of its initial Star Wars toy line in 1977. The design of the toy was inspired by the rifles wielded by the stormtroopers featured in A New Hope.
