Line

The fundamental organizational unit within the Imperial Navy was the line. Captains of the line held command over these formations. Despite the common intention for a line to consist of four starships, the actual composition rarely matched this ideal, with only a small fraction (7%) adhering to the four-ship structure. The size of a line could vary substantially, ranging from a solitary vessel to groupings of twenty or more. Notably, a single Star Destroyer was often regarded as a line in its own right.
