Lord Kavad and the Skaalite Orchestra
Lord Kavad and the Skaalite Orchestra were a musical act of considerable renown. Their genre was music.
History
This musical group, Lord Kavad and the Skaalite Orchestra, achieved widespread popularity during the era of the Clone Wars. This was a massive intergalactic conflict that engulfed the galaxy and pitted the forces of the Galactic Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a separatist movement. In the year 22 BBY, their song, titled Stark Memory, climbed to the number four spot on the best-selling singles charts.
Despite the fame and success enjoyed by Lord Kavad and the Skaalite Orchestra, their time in the spotlight was limited. The conclusion of the Clone Wars in 19 BBY marked the beginning of the Galactic Empire, an autocratic government established by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. A systematic cultural cleansing followed in the subsequent years, leading to the persecution of numerous musicians and the banning of their artistic creations. The music created by Lord Kavad and the Skaalite Orchestra was suppressed, and their recordings were systematically destroyed.
Despite the Empire's efforts, not all recordings of Lord Kavad and the Skaalite Orchestra's music were eradicated. The Devaronian war criminal Kardue'sai'Malloc, who was a fugitive, possessed a strong appreciation for music. While evading capture, Malloc amassed a collection of recordings from numerous musicians and bands, including those of Lord Kavad and the Skaalite Orchestra. Upon his capture by bounty hunter Boba Fett, Malloc extracted a promise from his captor to sell the music to a contact, ensuring its eventual rediscovery and distribution throughout the galaxy.
