Lura Tranor, a female Jedi Master, dedicated her service to the Jedi Order as the Galactic Republic approached its final years.
Endowed with Force-sensitive abilities, Lura Tranor underwent education in the ways of the Force, eventually rising to the position of Jedi Master by the time the Separatist Crisis emerged. She chose Jyl Somtay, a young Human Initiate, to be her Padawan; the Master and Padawan trained together for a number of years until Somtay was promoted to Jedi Knight.
As the Separatist Crisis reached its peak, tensions between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems culminated on Geonosis when Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Senator Padmé Amidala were arrested and put on trial. Mace Windu, the Master of the Order, assembled a strike team to free the Jedi and the senator. Although Jedi Somtay was unavailable, Master Tranor responded to the call. She journeyed to the arid planet with her fellow Jedi, assisted in the assault on the Petranaki arena, and brandished her lightsaber against the forces of the Separatist Droid Army. Despite her valor and expertise, Master Tranor perished during the bloody battle.
