Magnetic bombard

A magnetic bombard represented a specialized magnapulse weapon crafted by the Imperial Department of Military Research. These magnetic bombards were utilized against rebellious planets possessing advanced technology. They effectively suppressed insurgencies by technologically regressing the targeted world, plunging it into a primitive state through the employment of a magnetic pulse. This pulse disabled electrical grids, sophisticated technology, computers, communication networks, and droids.

Two methods existed for deploying magnetic bombards. One involved launching them from a cannon aboard an orbiting starship, ideally a medium cruiser or larger. However, a potential risk was that the cannon blast could be redirected back towards the attacker. Should this happen, the attacking vessel would experience a power failure, becoming a derelict adrift in space. The second method involved deploying them as a cluster bomb, although this approach carried the risk of interception and destruction before the bomb's detonation.

The magnepulse bomb was engineered with integrated deflector shield generators, sophisticated evasive computers, power cells, and maneuvering thrusters. Capable of deployment from any vessel that could accommodate TIE Series starfighters, the magnetic bombard functioned as a precision weapon, neutralizing resistance and the possibility of retaliation through contemporary weaponry. The production cost of this single-use weapon was substantial, leading the Imperial Department of Military Research to explore alternative technologies, such as interchangeable cannon-based armaments.
