Makta, a Twi'lek female, participated in swoop races. During the Rion Swoop competition, she collaborated with Kuru, aiming to capture the smuggler Han Solo. Kuru's intention was to deliver Solo to the Galactic Empire to claim the reward offered for his capture. In an effort to undermine Solo, Makta collided her swoop with his; however, Solo managed to damage her stabilizer, leading to her own crash. She informed Takvax, Kuru's associate, of her unsuccessful attempt, prompting Takvax to enlist Glunge, a sniper, to eliminate Solo from the race. Luke Skywalker, having traveled to Rion with Solo for a Rebel Alliance operation, aided Solo in securing victory, thereby thwarting Kuru's plans.
