Maldra IV, a planet situated within the Maldra system, could be found in the Shadola sector of the Outer Rim's territories. In the period that followed the Battle of Yavin, the Galactic Empire attempted to destroy what they believed to be a pirate stronghold on the world; however, they soon learned that it was, in fact, a Rebels installation. The Empire asserted that it was a munitions depot, while the Alliance maintained that it served as a refugee base. Irrespective of the conflicting propaganda, Imperial forces, spearheaded by the Imperial Star Destroyer named Motivator, led by Captain Briera, completely obliterated the base.
