Mandalore the Destroyer

Ranah Teh Naast, a Mandalorian woman, was the offspring of Uvhen Chal. In her lifetime, Naast ascended to the position of Mand'alor—the traditional head of the Mandalorian people—and became known as Mandalore the Destroyer. While she was Mand'alor, Naast commanded the siege of the urban center of Luon. In the midst of the conflict, she addressed the city's leader, explaining the strengths inherent in Mandalorian society before presenting the leader with one last chance to cede Luon.

Biography

As the daughter of Uvhen Chal, Ranah Teh Naast was a Mandalorian woman. As time passed, Naast eventually rose to claim the mantle of Mand'alor, the customary chief of all Mandalorian fighting clans. Following a custom established by previous Mandalores, Naast adopted a distinctive name to distinguish herself, choosing the moniker Mandalore the Destroyer.

During her time as Mand'alor, Naast was in command of Mandalorian armies during the siege of the urban center of Luon. She chose to converse with Luon's leader during the battle, in which Naast went into detail about the advantages of the Mandalorian fighting culture, and after describing the Mandalorians' potential for a decisive victory, gave the leader a final opportunity to give up the city.

Personality and traits

Ranah Teh Naast was self-assured, and she held the heritage and culture of the Mandalorians in high regard. In her discussion with the Consul of Luon, she compared her people to a concept that could not be killed, inadvertently revealing her belief in the everlasting nature of ideas. Naast also demonstrated some knowledge of the Mandalorian tongue, Mando'a.

Behind the scenes

Ranah Teh Naast's debut in Star Wars lore was as a quote used as an opening for the eleventh chapter of the novel Imperial Commando: 501st, penned by writer Karen Traviss, and released on October 27, 2009. Ranah Teh Naast is the first female Mandalore presented in Star Wars continuity.
