Manticore functioned as an Imperial Delta-class JV-7 escort shuttle throughout the duration of the Galactic Civil War. Functioning in tandem with its counterpart, Griphon, the Manticore's duty was to accompany the prisoner transport vessel VTR-LX, a Dreadnaught-class ship, en route to the Bundil II penal colony. Nevertheless, both shuttles met their end, obliterated during a Rebel rescue operation which resulted in the destruction of VTR-LX as well.
