The Merson pirates used it as their base of operations, before the Confederacy of Independent Systems subsequently seized control. In the era of the Clone Wars, the Grand Army of the Republic launched an effort to wrest control from the Separatists; nevertheless, the CIS forces, having significantly reinforced the local pirates, were five times larger than anticipated. The entire Republic ground contingent suffered a devastating defeat, and the transports in orbit were compelled to retreat.
