Mid-Year Fete

The yearly Mid-Year Fete served as an annual contest at the Coruscant Jedi Temple during the time of the Galactic Republic.

Overview

Each year, this competition took place. Jedi Masters who had achieved the rank of Blademaster would engage in lightsaber combat against one another, utilizing Form II, also known as Makashi. Before the start of the tournament, the participants would perform the customary Makashi flourish and give a salute by raising their lightsabers. Following this, the duels would proceed until every challenger either faced defeat or chose to surrender.

History

Records of these duels are found within The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force, which indicates that the practice was common around the period of the Ruusan Reformations in 1000 BBY. Back then, the duels occurred in the open-air courtyard of the Jedi Temple.
