The corporation known as Nova Orion Industries was conducting research on these crystals, exploring their potential as an energy source for both landspeeders and podracers.
The introduction of Midlithe crystals occurred when the Ord Mantell space sector was incorporated into Star Wars Galaxies through Chapter 8: The Nova Orion Crisis, which was released in January of 2007. Players could acquire them by destroying starships operating in the Ord Mantell system. These crystals served as a means of progression within the Nova Orion questline and were also used to acquire blueprints for Nova Orion starship parts.
