Mission to Bakura (Clone Wars)

Legends Jedi Masters Sora Bulq, along with Tholme, embarked on a quest to Bakura. Their objective was to locate the hidden base of Legends Count Dooku situated on Legends Bakura, and this occurred not long after the Legends First Battle of Geonosis.

The Objective

Bulq attacking Dooku.

Upon their arrival on Bakura, Sora Bulq and Tholme confronted Count Dooku and launched an attack. During their intense legends lightsaber duel, Dooku praised Tholme for correctly guessing his return to this location and for bringing Sora Bulq along. Nevertheless, he quickly shifted to boasting about his own superior strength, aiming to persuade Tholme to join his cause. When his attempts failed, Dooku used a Force push to knock Tholme aside and then focused his attention on Bulq.

Bulq countered Dooku's goading by mentioning the numerous Jedi who perished in the Geonosian arena, asserting that Dooku had succumbed to the dark side. As Dooku defended against Bulq's furious legends Vaapad attacks, he stated that Bulq separated the Dark and Light sides of the Force out of trained fear. He further expressed his own conviction that with adequate self-control, one doesn't need to be afraid of the dark side. Commenting on Bulq's utilization of Vaapad, Dooku suggested that the style derived its strength from the dark side, but asserted that Vaapad's restrained anger paled in comparison to the dark side's complete fury.

To illustrate his point, Dooku blasted Sora away with legends Force lightning. Tholme swiftly retaliated, but Dooku deflected his attacks, commending the Jedi for maintaining his lightsaber combat skills and adhering to the traditional fighting styles. Asserting that Tholme recognized the corruption within the Republic just as he did, Dooku once more tried to secure Tholme's loyalty. The Jedi calmly responded that their beliefs were not aligned, because if they were, the Geonosis massacre would not have occurred.

Despite being forced up a flight of stairs, Tholme declared that he could sense Dooku's exhaustion following the events on Geonosis, and proposed that he would accept the Count's surrender. Dooku swiftly corrected Tholme's misjudgment, impaling the Jedi through the shoulder before spinning around him, slashing him across the back and face, and gouging out his eye.

Now at Dooku's mercy, Tholme was given the choice of joining Dooku or facing death. Tholme chose death, and Dooku honored the Jedi's decision by collapsing a section of the ceiling onto Tholme. Leaving Tholme for dead, Dooku used telekinesis to levitate Sora Bulq and departed the room with him, believing the Weequay to be more open to his message, given his extensive study of the dark side through Vaapad.

The Aftermath

In the following days, Tholme somehow managed to extricate himself, using the Force to lift the debris off his injured body… one piece at a time. Once he was free, he fashioned a makeshift sling for his arm and limped away. However, he later conceded that he would have perished there if not for Sora Bulq's assistance. Bulq claimed that he had managed to escape Dooku and had spent a considerable amount of time searching for Tholme.

The pair successfully left Bakura and returned to the legends Jedi Temple for medical attention, with Bulq being celebrated as a hero for rescuing Tholme. However, Bulq exploited his newfound credibility to instigate division within the Jedi Order, culminating in the Legends Mission to Ruul, where his descent to the dark side and defection to the CIS were revealed. He would subsequently become a formidable adversary of the Jedi throughout the legends Clone Wars.

During the later legends Siege of Saleucami, Bulq, consumed by the dark side and blinded by rage, asserted his right to take Tholme's life, having saved it on Bakura.
