The Mongo Beefhead Tribesman belonged to the almost-gone Mongo Beefhead Tribe originating from Tatooine. Similar to the other members of his tribe, this particular tribesman gave his support to the Rebel Alliance.
Kenner had planned for the Mongo Beefhead Tribesman to be a test action figure for their unreleased The Epic Continues toy series from 1986. The designers at Kenner built this figure by taking a "Squid Head" (Quarren) action figure's head, severing the neck, and reorienting it to face forward. This head was then put together with a Squid Head figure's body, "Hammer Head" (Ithorian) arms, and a 4-LOM figure's chest piece.
