Morcanth, a world situated within the Unknown Regions, existed in an area contested by three distinct starfaring species for hundreds of years, with not one of them recognizing the idea of being neutral. Despite its location in the Unknown Regions, this planet was marked on certain maps; nevertheless, only older maps displayed its original designation, as the planet's name had been altered by the time the Galactic Civil War occurred.
Morcanth served as the site of a subterranean facility where Winslau Da'k, a disgraced Jedi Padawan, held his own Jedi Master captive. At this location, Da'k exploited his powers to accumulate riches and indulge in lavish living, concurrently exploring the dark side of the Force.
Nevertheless, the Jedi managed to establish communication via the Force with a faction that successfully evaded capture by the alien armadas, infiltrated Morcanth, and ultimately triumphed over Winslau. The freed master subsequently assisted his liberators in the capacity of a guide and counselor.
