Mouf

Moufs were generally of moderate size and preferred a solitary existence, though they would sometimes congregate for feeding or mating purposes. These creatures were known for their sensitivity and exceptionally slow metabolic rates, allowing them to subsist on meager food sources like the bark of decaying trees. The Mouf flourished within the Dead Forest of Kashyyyk and were a target for the Sayormi, who valued their hides for their superior insulating properties, frequently incorporating them into their combat armor.

Behind the scenes

The Mouf made its debut in the Star Wars Galaxies video game, a large-scale online multiplayer RPG created by Sony Online Entertainment and released by LucasArts. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. Concept artwork, labeled "bear," alongside a game model of a mouf, featured in the book From Pencil to Pixel: The Art of Star Wars Galaxies, reveals that the initial design for moufs placed them on the planet Corellia within the Star Wars Galaxies universe. While they didn't make it into the original game release, the design was eventually adapted for Kashyyyk in the second expansion pack, Rage of the Wookiees.
