Mount Yoda, which was initially known as Mount Dagger, was a massive shield volcano situated on Dagobah. Its origins trace back to the initial years of that planet's creation, billions of years ago.
As the singular significant geological attribute of Dagobah, Mount Dagger reached a height of ten kilometers, surpassing both the jungle's uppermost layer and the fog layer enveloping the planet. Being a shield volcano, the majority of its shield had worn away, resulting in a rugged, volcanic peak that extended beyond the clouds. The solidified lava core remained complete, offering opportunities for geological study and unearthing. Select small plants and lichens, unique to this location, prospered in the earth surrounding Mount Dagger.
It received its designation in honor of Jedi Master Yoda following a proposal by the academic Arhul Hextrophon to Rebel troops. The New Republic established a Defense Research and Planetary Assistance Center (also referred to as DRAPAC) atop the mountain in 5 ABY.
