During the time Princess Leia Organa found herself marooned on the planet and compelled to serve as a housemaid for Lady Tarkin, Nardo harbored suspicions towards her. Following a period of surveillance lasting several days, he caught her utilizing the subspace transponder in an attempt to transmit a message to Han Solo. Nardo opened fire in her direction; however, his shot went astray and instead impacted a megonite moss display case in close proximity, resulting in an explosion that caused his death. The irony was that Nardo himself had been the one to advocate for maintaining the display indoors.
