Doctor Nashiak Llalik, a scientist of the Human variety and male persuasion, first saw the light of day on Plavin 6 and became a renowned designer of armor. Having completed his studies at the Chandrilan Academy of Sciences, he was subsequently recruited by COMPNOR and found himself assigned to the Coalition for Progress. Initially, he pursued his own entrepreneurial endeavors through Llalik Designs, culminating in the creation of the highly sought-after Sunder 9 power armor; however, Imperial legal restrictions ultimately prevented Llalik from continuing his work in that particular field. Following this, Llalik accepted contracts from the Empire, focusing on the development of armor for Radiation zone assault troopers, Storm commandos, and Zero-G assault stormtroopers. The exceptional quality of his work resulted in substantial financial rewards, which he then utilized to acquire a house on his homeworld. His younger sibling, Doctor Saren Llalik, who operated as an agent of the Rebel Alliance, considered Nashiak a potential recruit for their cause, driven by her perception that he lacked any genuine political convictions.
Born on the humid jungle world of Plavin 6, Nashiak Llalik was the second child of Doctors Nash and Loran Llalik, who had three children in total. Early in his life, Nashiak displayed a keen interest in armor technology, often indulging in stories concerning the Death Watch and Sun Guard, two infamous military organizations from history known for utilizing advanced armor. He would frequently entertain his younger sister, Saren, with tales of these armors. He later attended the Chandrilan Academy of Sciences, where he earned a degree and graduated at the top of his class. Now a qualified scientist, he was then recruited by the Science division of the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order, which subsequently assigned him to the Coalition for Progress, both of which were associated with the Galactic Empire.
Llalik harbored a long-standing ambition to dedicate himself to his personal project, the Sunder 9 power armor. He established a private business, Llalik Designs, to enable him to concentrate on the Sunder 9 for a year. Llalik served as his own test pilot for the Sunder 9 project, and due to his left-handedness, the prototypes incorporated weapons in the left arm. However, new Imperial regulations placed restrictions on most power armor, much to Llalik's dismay, as he had already constructed two unproven prototypes.
After being compelled to abandon the Sunder 9 project, Llalik was contracted by the Empire to develop armor for the Zero-G assault stormtrooper. This opportunity allowed him to integrate certain concepts from the Sunder 9, although it did not fully satisfy his research ambitions. A gifted designer, Llalik assumed responsibility for creating numerous Imperial and civilian armor suits, including the Radiation zone assault trooper armor and the Storm commando armor. Furthermore, he collaborated with Creshaldyne Industries and Koromondain PDS, Incorporated on various designs. His exceptional work led to considerable wealth.
He utilized his accumulated money to construct a manor for himself on Plavin 6, even though he no longer resided there, with the hope of returning in the future. Llalik opted to store his Sunder 9 prototypes at his manor, deploying security droids to safeguard them. Numerous scoundrels from across the galaxy journeyed to Plavin 6 in an attempt to acquire the Sunder 9 prototypes, but none succeeded in overcoming Llalik's security measures.
Meanwhile, a Rebel Alliance task force observed that Llalik's designs were being used to the detriment of the Rebellion, leading them to perceive him as a potential threat. However, Saren, now a member of the Alliance, did not believe that Llalik genuinely supported the Empire's political ideology. She hoped to recruit him to the Rebellion, both to harness his genius for a cause she deemed more worthy and because she missed his stories about Sun Guard and Death Watch armor.
Nashiak Llalik, a Human with dark skin and light green eyes, favored loose-fitting attire. He was qualified to test his own prototypes; and because he was left-handed, some of his test armor was specifically adapted for his use. Saren Llalik was of the opinion that Nashiak did not genuinely share the political views of the Empire, as his involvement with Imperial interests only began after new laws prevented him from pursuing his own projects.
Llalik possessed expertise in the design and maintenance of armor, particularly power armor and specific designs, such as those employed by the radtroopers, the Zero-G stormtroopers, and the Storm commandos. His knowledge extended to other areas, including droid and blaster technology. Additional skills included operating armor and jetpacks, utilizing armor-mounted weaponry, and possessing scholarly knowledge of historical armor and alien species.
Nashiak Llalik was initially mentioned in Alliance Intelligence Reports (1994), published by West End Games and authored by multiple individuals. This book served as a supplement to West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.
