Needler

A needler was a pistol type specifically engineered to bypass personal energy shields by launching a small, pointed dart. These darts could also be treated with a contact poison, enabling the delivery of the toxin upon impact. A well-known model was the NX-14.

The price of a needler was 650 credits, and it had a weight of 1 kilogram. An ammunition clip was necessary for the needler to function, and it cost 20 credits and weighed 0.1 kilograms. The clip needed to be replaced after every 10 shots.

Narsk Ka'hane, a Bothan spy, carried a needler, finding it suitable for espionage operations due to its silent operation compared to a blaster. Narsk could modify his needler's settings to fire acid-filled darts or explosive pulse-wave darts. This weapon was used by Narsk during his first encounter with Jedi Knight Kerra Holt at the Daimanate Dynamic Testing Facility, but it was ineffective.

The Galactic Empire's E522 assassin droid included a neurological needler as part of its extensive weaponry.

Imperial spy Tanya Madera employed this weapon to inject the fatal triflexia virus into Chief Technician Adonar Dellox and one of the X-wing pilots stationed at Reginard Base. She later used the remaining five shots to defend herself from a group of Rebels.
