Nepenthé, a thick lubricant, served the purpose of shielding against mechanical degradation and simultaneously transmitting program updates. In the vicinity of 9 ABY, Commissioner Helgait sabotaged a quantity of Nepenthé, which resulted in several droids experiencing operational failures.
