The netcaster, a particularly hazardous spider, originated from Kashyyyk, the Wookiee people's homeworld. These arachnids typically measured around 75 centimeters in length. To ensnare their typical food source, the daubirds, they constructed webs within the towering arboreal structures of their natural habitat. In instances of attack or when faced with formidable threats, the netcaster defended itself by employing its extremely poisonous bite.
Originally, netcasters were planned to be included within an episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars; however, the show's cancellation prevented the episode's completion. A segment from this unreleased episode, showcasing the netcaster, was presented at Celebration Anaheim during 2015. In this clip, a group of eight netcasters launched an assault on several Wookiees and Clone Force 99 located on Kashyyyk. The portrayal of the netcasters depicted them as a basic, hostile species, possessing the capability to project a spider-like web from an appendage situated on their frontal area. Ultimately, all eight netcasters met their demise, failing to successfully overcome the Wookiees in their attempted assault.
