No-Show

The No-Show, produced by Audio Performance Incorporated, functioned as a sensor jammer designed for personal use.

Characteristics

Resembling a wristwatch, the No-Show was a device worn on the wrist. It generated a close-fitting electromagnetic field around the individual wearing it. This field worked to disrupt the wearer's bio-signature and energy emissions. This resulted in the masking of thermal, infrared, and sonic signatures, thus preventing detection. Consequently, the wearer became undetectable to both active and passive sensors and scanners, and also inaudible to both organic beings and machines. However, the No-Show had significant limitations, most notably double-blindness. The field it projected interfered with any scanners, sensors, or communication equipment used by the wearer, a potentially deadly issue if caution was not exercised.

History

The Alliance developed the No-Show, and Audio Performance Incorporated manufactured it. It became a prized item for Infiltrators and thieves. Its popularity was such that various criminal organizations throughout the galaxy learned to create their own copies of the device during the New Republic era.
