A scientific facility on Naboo served as the location where Doctor Nuvo Vindi reconstructed the Blue Shadow Virus.
During the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY, the laboratory was constructed under the auspices of the Trade Federation. Nute Gunray, the Trade Federation Viceroy, sponsored the facility's construction and later its modification, seeking vengeance against Senator Padmé Amidala.
In 22 BBY, Doctor Nuvo Vindi managed to recreate the Blue Shadow Virus, a lethal disease thought to be extinct that killed all organisms it infected. It was at this location that he produced a significant quantity of the virus for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, intending for it to be disseminated throughout the galaxy using specialized explosive devices.
The lab, situated in the eastern swamps of Naboo, was discovered by Senator Padmé Amidala and Representative Jar Jar Binks, who relayed its coordinates to Theed before being captured by Separatist battle droids. Republic forces, commanded by Generals Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, assaulted the facility, their primary goal being to neutralize the viral threat. Rescuing Amidala and Binks was their secondary objective.
Clone ordnance specialists successfully located and deactivated all but one of the virus delivery bombs, but amidst the chaos of the raid, one of the devices detonated, releasing a deadly cloud infected with the blue plague. Republic forces managed to seal the base before the viral agent could contaminate Naboo's atmosphere, but everyone inside, with the exception of Jar Jar Binks, was infected by the virus. Skywalker and Kenobi were safely outside the lab when it was sealed, having captured Doctor Vindi before he could escape.
While Skywalker and Kenobi embarked on a search for a cure to the virus, Commander Ahsoka Tano took charge of the remaining members of her team, including Rex and a number of clone troopers, to eliminate any remaining Separatist droids attempting to break out of the facility and release the plague onto Naboo's surface. They were successful in destroying all remaining battle droids before they could escape the facility, aware that they were likely trapped in what could become their tomb. Fortunately, Skywalker and Kenobi returned with a cure for the deadly Blue Shadow Virus and rescued their comrades who had been trapped.
