Oktos Route

The Oktos Route, a trade route, detoured around the Oktos Nebula. It provided a connection from Nal Hutta within Hutt Space to the Trax Tube, situated in the Kurost sector of the Mid Rim.

Astrographical Information

Originating from Nal Hutta inside Hutt Space, the Oktos Route intersected with the Ootmian Pabol, Pabol Hutta, and Shag Pabol hyperspace routes.

This commercial path traversed Kleeva, Toydaria, and Tol Amn, and then extended through the Esaga and Kurost sectors of the Mid Rim. It also went through the Cygnus Star Empire, a compact group of worlds that were closely clustered within a few parsecs of each other in the Mid Rim, just coreward of Hutt Space.

The Oktos Route's termination point was in the Kurost sector, where it met with the Trax Tube.

The route avoided the largely unmapped Oktos Nebula, a radioactive gas cloud located in Hutt Space. It also bypassed the Oktos and Hune sectors of the Mid Rim.

Historical Context

During the period of the Galactic Civil War, the planet Toydaria hosted the Oktos Zone Imperial Outpost, a listening post utilized by the Galactic Empire. Its hyperwave signal interceptors were capable of monitoring lightspeed activity on the Oktos Route, reaching as far as Nal Hutta and Tol Amn.

During the Yuuzhan Vong War, following their conquest of the Y'Toub system in 26 ABY, the extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong advanced along the Oktos Route with the intention to attack the Toydaria system.

Behind the Curtains

The initial mention of the Oktos Route appeared in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book that was co-authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.

It received another mention in "The Written Word," a 2010 Hyperspace article penned by John Hazlett.

Lords of Nal Hutta, a 2015 supplement for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying game series, erroneously identifies the Oktos Route, the trade route that goes through Toydaria, as the Shag Pabol.
