High Trammic, sometimes referred to as Old High Trammic, existed as a common language across the area that would eventually be known as the Centrality. This was before the arrival of Galactic Basic Standard, and the language continued to be used even after Basic became established.
The specific beginnings of Old High Trammic remain a mystery. However, some theories suggest it was created by the Sharu prior to their transformation into the Toka. Supporting this, all Toka chants were performed in a version of this language. Irrespective of its true source, the language derived its name from the planet Trammis III, situated within the Trammis system.
Around 6 BBY, Lando Calrissian journeyed to Trammis III and acquired knowledge of Old High Trammic. The Toka's particular form of the language was distinct enough that, two years afterward, he couldn't actively understand it upon hearing it. Nevertheless, it held a sense of familiarity. During a night spent incarcerated on Rafa IV, the Toka's continuous chanting outside the prison walls led his subconscious to translate the language as he slept.
