The Ordinance [sic] Research Division functioned as a subdivision within the Imperial Department of Military Research. Its operational headquarters were situated at the Maw Installation, which served as an Imperial research center. The center was located within the Maw Cluster, a challenging region of space marked by a dense concentration of black holes that made navigation exceedingly difficult. The leader of the Ordinance Research Division was Director [Golanda].
Despite the division's clear focus on researching ordnance (weaponry), the Maw Installation Organizational Chart on page 71 of The Jedi Academy Sourcebook erroneously refers to it as "Ordinance" Research Division. However, the correct term appears on page 73, where the Imperial Ordnance Research Facility and Ordnance Research and Development are mentioned.
