The P'w'eck Emancipation Movement represented a group dedicated to freeing the P'w'eck people from the control of the Ssi-ruuk.
During the time of the Yuuzhan Vong War, acting on information received from the Ryn Network, Han and Leia Organa Solo traveled to Bakura to investigate. Upon their arrival, they discovered that the P'w'eck had seemingly abandoned their Ssi-ruuk overlords due to the birth of the Keeramak, a Ssi-Ruu who possessed all the colors of its species. The P'w'eck declared that they had created the P'w'eck Emancipation Movement and had entered into an alliance with the people of Bakura.
However, it was later revealed that this entire situation was a complex scheme orchestrated by the Ssi-ruuk to seize control of Bakura, with the P'w'eck revolt being a manufactured event. Despite the movement's initial deception, Lwothin, the leading P'w'eck officer, seized the opportunity to attack the Ssi-ruuk, killing the Keeremak and ultimately saving the lives of Han and Leia. This pivotal act shifted the momentum of the battle in favor of the Bakurans and the Galactic Alliance. Consequently, the Ssi-ruuvi invasions were effectively halted.
After the battle concluded, the P'w'eck Emancipation Movement officially signed a treaty with the Bakuran government, establishing a formal alliance between the two groups. The treaty's provisions included holding elections within a month's time, equally distributing all captured Ssi-ruuvi resources, and offering support for a P'w'eck liberation effort within the Imperium. The former Chief of State Leia Organa Solo foresaw a surge in P'w'eck refugees fleeing the Imperium in the coming months, as well as the potential for a Ssi-ruuvi counter-invasion within the next year.
