A stun cord, alternatively called a paralysis cord, served as a tool employed by IG-88 to induce paralysis in a subject, facilitating their capture alive. Functionally, the cord mirrored a whipcord launcher; upon activation, a substantial length of animated cord would deploy, subsequently entwining itself around the intended recipient. However, in contrast to a whipcord, a paralysis cord continued its deployment, ultimately encasing the adversary entirely within its spiraling form. The consequence of this action was the effective immobilization of the individual, as the constricting coils negated the sentient being's capacity for movement. Certain iterations of the paralysis cord incorporated conductive metallic elements within its construction; following the complete envelopment of the target, an integrated power source would electrify the cord, thereby amplifying the level of incapacitation.
