Photoplate

A photoplate functioned as a light-sensitive control mechanism embedded within the cell block walls of a correctional facility. Positioned at a height ranging from 1 to 1.5 meters above the ground, this device, upon detecting movement such as a hand passing before it, would cause the bars of a specific cell to temporarily vanish. Reactivating the photoplate would then reconstruct the bars, effectively reforming the secure enclosure.
