Gaar Suppoon not only craved the Hypergland but also sought Pontak's personal services to exploit his scientific expertise in Suppoon's own labs. Jabba Desilijic Tiure facilitated this by handing over both the Hypergland and its creator to Suppoon at a gathering within Suppoon's palace. This occurred after Thok, a Force-sensitive Gamorrean guard and former test subject, revealed Suppoon's whereabouts to Jabba. Jabba, intending to eliminate his competitor, had covertly extracted Dr. Pontak's brain, transforming him into an unthinking zombie.
