Pondut functioned as a research station operated by Galactic Electronics and was situated in the Corporate Sector. This station was responsible for the creation of the magnetic pulse warhead, a device capable of briefly neutralizing a starship's weaponry.
Galactic Electronics made the determination to offer the magnetic pulse warhead to the Rebel Alliance. Despite an Imperial decree prohibiting the sale of these armaments, the Corporate Sector's neutrality in the Galactic Civil War allowed them to circumvent this restriction.
The Rebels employed the magnetic pulse during an assault on an Imperial Research Station. Station security forces managed to seize a Rebel B-wing starfighter utilizing the warhead, which led them to trace its origin back to the Corporate Sector, specifically to Galactic Electronics, and more precisely, to the Pondut research station.
Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin received orders to seize Pondut and impound Galactic Electronics' holdings. While this necessitated entering the neutral territory of the Corporate Sector, the mission was nonetheless executed. One Assault Gunboat pilot reported that Zaarin was exceptionally eager to capture everyone. Pondut was successfully taken, with all personnel accounted for. The incident at Pondut caused Imperial-Corporate Sector relations to plummet to their lowest point.
