The Union's naval forces initiated the use of these weapons at the start of the Tionese War, employing them in assaults targeting Republic shipyards located on the periphery. Throughout the century-long war, opposing fleets traversed the Perlemian Trade Route, engaging in bombardments of their respective capital worlds, namely Coruscant and Desevro.
As the Republic launched its final counter-offensive, deploying a newly-launched star fleet that shifted the war's momentum, they chose Desevro as a demonstration of force. They rejected the Union's proposal for complete surrender and proceeded to devastate the planet through a continuous orbital pressure bombardment, leaving it utterly ruined.
