Pryss-creatures were massive, elephantine-resembling animals that inhabited the untamed planet of Verig. The native nomadic hunters of Verig employed bola-esque weapons in their hunting practices, specifically to ensnare the legs of these beasts and cause them to fall.
In the course of a Verig mission taking place amidst the Galactic Civil War, Rebel Alliance strategist Beryl Chiffonage took note of the way the planet's nomads brought down the Pryss-creatures via tripping. This observation gave Chiffonage the idea to create a similar approach, which involved using T-47 airspeeders equipped with a harpoon and tow cable to entangle and topple Imperial All Terrain Armored Transport walkers. The Rebellion would later use this tactic to great effect during the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY.
