Rand Nalleck was a student enrolled at the Imperial Academy of Carida, which itself was part of the Galactic Empire and situated on the planet called Carida; his status there was that of a cadet. He began his studies at the academy in the year 5 BBY, and he completed his education there in 1 BBY. At the graduation event, which was supervised by General Rom Mohc, General Mohc announced Nalleck's name, who was to be given a particular honor.
The first time Rand Nalleck was brought up was in the audio adaption of the novella titled Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire, which came out in 1997. Because the character's name is only spoken in the audio adaption, it is impossible to know the definitive spelling of the character's name.
