Alliance Fleet troopers, also referred to as Rebel marines, represented a specific type of soldier within the Rebel Alliance. These troopers were typically assigned to Alliance Fleet starships, where they fulfilled roles related to ship defense and boarding operations. Within the Alliance Military, they were organized into units known as Alliance Fleet Regiments. A Rebel marine such as Ensign Cariso Smadis was stationed on the Tantive IV during 0 BBY. A specialized group of Rebel marines existed within the Alliance Special Forces, known as the 1st Regiment. These marines were later reorganized and became the New Republic Marines.
The arsenal of the marines included various weapons, such as blaster rifles, rocket launchers, and thermal detonators. However, marines stationed on the Tantive IV were only equipped with blaster pistols.
