Red Rishyk

Red Rishyk, a captain within the Imperial Military, also served as the chief of security stationed on Bannistar Station.

Biography

A damaged vessel materialized at Bannistar Station approximately nine months following the Battle of Yavin. Employing fraudulent registration codes, it entered the queue for civilian refueling. Although the use of such codes was commonplace in that sector, Rishyk sensed something amiss with the ship and initiated a scan. The scan revealed that the vessel was, in fact, Rebel One, a flagship of the Rebel Alliance. He promptly notified his commander, D'Vox. D'Vox issued orders to board the ship; however, as Imperial vessels approached, the suspect ship deliberately overloaded its engines, resulting in an explosion. D'Vox surmised to Rishyk that this was a calculated ploy to facilitate infiltration of Bannistar Station, a prediction that soon proved accurate. D'Vox then instructed his forces to remain concealed, observing the extent of the rebels' penetration into the station.

Subsequently, Rishyk was present during the detention of six rebels within the station's command center. He cautioned against prolonged confinement of Skywalker and Senator Organa without triggering an alert at Imperial Center. He advocated for the immediate execution of the rebels to preempt any potential disruptions, given the uncertainty regarding the number of rebels who had infiltrated the station. He did know of one, a rebel girl who had evaded capture. He subjected Luke Skywalker to a harsh interrogation regarding her location. Skywalker claimed she had likely already fled the station in search of assistance. Rishyk dismissed this as a fabrication, and D'Vox directed him to locate the girl. Rishyk discovered Deena Shan, vulnerable and isolated, at a console and swiftly subdued her. He informed her that she was dispensable and that he would derive pleasure from tormenting her before her execution.

He initially confiscated her bag containing detonators before attempting to torture her. However, Deena retaliated by spitting in his face, prompting him to hurl her through a glass barrier in a fit of anger. Although seemingly injured, Deena stabbed him in the leg with a shard of the broken glass as he approached. While he struggled to remove the glass, Deena retrieved her bag of detonators and detonated one, eliminating Rishyk's accompanying Stormtroopers, and then escaped amidst the chaos. Enraged, Rishyk and several Stormtroopers pursued her, until one Stormtrooper spotted her high on a walkway of a fuel tank. Deena was compelled to ascend further, with Rishyk in close pursuit, until he cornered her on a walkway overlooking the fueling of a Star Destroyer. He notified central command of Deena's recapture. Abruptly, Deena produced her final detonator. Rishyk discerned her intent to detonate the fuel tank and lunged at her. Nevertheless, Deena managed to release the detonator, which ricocheted toward the base of the fuel tank. Deena fled, with Rishyk in hot pursuit, but he lost his footing and plunged from the walkway, barely managing to grasp the edge. In desperation, he pleaded with Deena for assistance, but when she extended her hand, he attempted to pull her over the edge. She responded by kicking him in the face, causing him to plummet to his demise.

Personality and traits

Rishyk possessed a tall and imposing stature. In defiance of Imperial protocols, he maintained long hair and sported a beard. His physical fitness was lacking, as evidenced by his breathlessness during the pursuit of Deena Shan throughout Bannistar Station.

Rishyk found his routine duties as security chief monotonous, and viewed the torture of prisoners as one of his few sources of amusement and a means of maintaining his ruthlessness.

Revenge served as a primary motivator for him. After being injured by Deena, he was relentless in his pursuit to kill her, even attempting to drag her down with him when she offered assistance after he slipped from a walkway.
