Repulsorsail

The Repulsorsail represented a distinctive application of repulsor technology. It was engineered for maritime vessels and predated the Galactic Civil War by over half a millennium, specifically 500 years. These sails incorporated a web of minuscule repulsorlift generators. These generators reoriented their anti-gravity fields so they were at a right angle to the gravity field. The result was a pressure exerted on the sails, mimicking the effect of wind, thereby enabling watercraft to navigate without needing actual wind. A similar technological approach was used to propel gondola skimmersubs when they operated on the water's surface.
