The Rescue on Riflor, also known as the Skirmish on Riflor, was a relatively minor operation executed by Ki-Adi-Mundi alongside Anakin Skywalker. Its purpose was the liberation of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Alpha-17, who found themselves trapped by various groups of bounty hunters on the world of Riflor.
In the aftermath of the devastating Battle of Jabiim, Obi-Wan Kenobi was officially listed as missing in action. Within the ranks of the Republic and the Jedi Order, many presumed him deceased. Anakin Skywalker, his apprentice, harbored doubts regarding his master's demise. Consequently, he was temporarily placed under the guidance of Ki-Adi-Mundi, pending a decision by the Jedi Council concerning his future as a Jedi padawan.
Subsequent events would prove the accuracy of Anakin's intuition. Following the Separatists' triumph on Jabiim, Kenobi and his loyal clone trooper comrade, Alpha-17, were captured by Dark Acolyte and Confederate commander Asajj Ventress, who then subjected them to torture. The prisoners succeeded in their escape, but a relentless pursuit by Separatist forces, including Vulture starfighters, resulted in damage to their stolen vessel, causing them to crash-land on the Separatist-controlled planet of Riflor. Certain bounty hunters, motivated by the prospect of earning credits, eliminated Confederate soldiers in an attempt to claim sole credit for the capture of Obi-Wan and Alpha-17.
After the Battle of Varonat, where the Jedi forces vanquished pirate elements, Anakin experienced a strong feeling that his former master remained alive, albeit in grave danger. Ki-Adi-Mundi, persuaded by fellow Jedi Masters Adi Gallia and Plo Koon, consented to accompany Skywalker in the search for Kenobi.

On Riflor, Kenobi and Alpha-17 were engaged in combat against the bounty hunters under the command of Rigo. Despite the best efforts of the two fugitives, they were outnumbered, leading Rigo to decide that eliminating them was a safer option than attempting to capture them for a bounty. At the critical moment, Skywalker intervened, saving Kenobi's life by severing Rigo's arm. The remaining bounty hunters unleashed a barrage of fire, but they proved to be no match for the combined might of three Jedi and one ARC trooper. The victorious party then departed the planet without alerting additional Separatist forces to their presence.
News of Kenobi's survival significantly improved the morale of the Jedi, who were burdened by the ongoing war. Skywalker was happy to resume his position as Kenobi's padawan. Alpha-17 bid farewell to Obi-Wan, informing him of his assignment to train new clone commanders on Kamino. Anakin suggested that he give the future clone troopers names, rather than identifying them solely by serial numbers.
