Rick Baker


Richard A. Baker, born on December 8, 1950, is a former makeup artist. His work included the second production unit on Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and he was also the creature supervisor for the cantina scene within The Star Wars Holiday Special.

Across his career, Baker secured six Academy Awards from a total of eleven nominations. These awards were for his work on An American Werewolf in London (1981), Harry and the Hendersons (1988), Ed Wood (1994), The Nutty Professor (1996), Men in Black (1997), and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). In addition, Baker contributed to another Lucasfilm project, Captain EO, which Francis Ford Coppola directed and was released in 1986 specifically for Disney Theme Parks.
