Rivoche Tarkin's brooch
The brooch belonging to Rivoche Tarkin was, in reality, a uniquely crafted poison detector. This device, a modified Personality Series ChaumScanner 5 from zZip, was disguised as a sapphire set within an elaborate ornamental brooch. The Grand Vizier gifted it to Rivoche Tarkin. Its purpose was to give her a subtle warning via an internal sensor whenever chemical or biological toxins were present. Embedded deep within the sapphire was a holo of the Tarkin family crest, making this particular piece of jewelry her most treasured possession.
Later, when Tarkin became a secret operative working for the Rebel Alliance, she had the brooch altered. It then contained a miniature, undetectable holorecorder. A simple touch, often performed while she was charming a potential target, would activate the device.
