Rodin Higron was a gambler hailing from Corellia who transitioned into a pirate; he was male and active during the era of the Galactic Civil War. He established his operational headquarters at the Oasis mining colony, situated within the region known as The Maelstrom.
Born on the planet Corellia, Rodin Higron was a cunning individual who engaged in both gambling and privateering. Through a rigged game of sabacc, Higron managed to secure complete ownership of an oxite mining colony situated on a volcanic moon located within the Maelstrom. While exploring the moon, Higron discovered that the Maelstrom, the territory of the Riders of the Maelstrom pirates, was an ideal location for raiding and subsequently established his own group of privateers. However, Higron was a strong supporter of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and therefore limited his attacks to Imperial military vessels and merchant starships. This moon also served as a safe world for the Alliance.
As an unfortunate consequence, Imperial forces began to exert greater control over the sector, which made piracy more dangerous. Big Jak Targrim, the leader of the Riders, grew particularly incensed by Higron's disruption of their lucrative activities and attempted to destroy Higron's base by crashing the luxury liner named Kuari Princess into it. Fortunately, a small team of Rebel agents intervened and successfully thwarted Targrim's scheme, saving Higron's operation.
