The RPGA, also referred to as the Role Playing Game Association or the RPGA Network, is a division of Wizards of the Coast. This organization managed Star Wars tournament adventures utilizing both the West End Games d6 system and the subsequent Wizards of the Coast d20 RPG system. Frank Mentzer of TSR established it in November 1980; Wizards of the Coast then gained control of the RPGA when they acquired TSR in 1997.
Before managing the Living Force campaign, the RPGA, while functioning as TSR, Inc., oversaw the Star Wars: Warriors of the Republic campaign, which was created for the rules found in Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, Second Edition, Revised and Expanded.
The RPGA is best known for the adventure scenarios that were a part of the Living Force campaign. However, they also put out a number of scenarios connected to the Star Wars: Warriors of the Republic campaign, in addition to several independent scenarios. Later scenarios released for the Wizards of the Coast d20 system are often considered canon, while the canonicity of earlier scenarios is uncertain.
Initially, a subscription was required for RPGA members to gain access to the scenarios; however, this fee was later removed. The scenarios remained exclusive to members and gamemasters, and they were mainly distributed at conventions.
