S9-series heavy power droid
The S9-series heavy power droid, standing at a height of 0.75 meters, was manufactured by Veril Line Systems. This droid featured a strengthened frame, photoreceptors, a binary vocabulator, an integrated high-capacity generator, robust treaded wheels, and a power transfer cable that could extend up to six meters. Its general design bore a resemblance to a more robust WED Treadwell repair droid. Marketed as a superior alternative to the less successful EG-6 power droid, the S9 possessed significantly greater charging capabilities. Unlike the EG-6, which could efficiently recharge a landspeeder, the S9 was capable of recharging a starfighter. Its ability to navigate challenging landscapes made it a favored choice among Rebel groups, including those stationed on Qat Chrystac, where some units underwent modifications for the purpose of ambushing radtroopers.
