Scarl refers to the starship building installations situated within the Scarl system, a short parsecs distance from Fondor. This location was found along the tightly controlled Gandeal-Fondor Hyperlane.
Following the unsuccessful Sarlacc Project, the Galactic Empire established this clandestine shipyard. Here they initiated the building of the Super Star Destroyer known as the Executor.
While the Executor was still being constructed, Darth Vader sent his hidden apprentice, Galen Marek, on several assignments during 3 BBY.
After the Battle of Yavin, the Executor gained importance as the Empire's top project. The Super Star Destroyer was then moved to the larger Fondor Shipyards to speed up its completion.
Later, the New Republic took control of the Scarl shipyards. Before the Orinda campaign, the Executor-class Star Dreadnought called the Lusankya was almost completely left behind in these shipyards, functioning as a place for medical studies.
