Section

A section represented a compact military unit within the Alliance Fleet throughout the Galactic Civil War, a conflict fought between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Similarly, the Confederate Navy utilized sections during the Clone Wars.

The composition of Rebel sections, in terms of the quantity and class of starships, was subject to change based on the specific objectives of a given operation. Typically, a section consisted of three to twelve corvettes and frigates, led by the captain holding the highest rank. Conversely, within the naval forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a section comprised a smaller number of vessels, ranging from two to four.
